Michael Brown and Thomas A. Mascolo, DMD, bring experience to advance local efforts
PLAINVIEW, N.Y. (May 28, 2024) The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Foundation (SCSF) recently announced Michael Brown and Thomas A. Mascolo, DMD, as new members of its board of trustees. The SCSF works in tandem with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office to support community-based programming to reduce incidents of crime and recidivism, improve outcomes for at-risk individuals, and build positive relationships with members of law enforcement.
“We welcome both Michael Brown and Thomas Mascolo as leaders in our local business community who share our vision to support and develop unique outreach initiatives to strengthen community partnerships,” says Dominic J. Marino, DVM, president of the SCSF board of trustees.
Brown is the founder and president of the Empire Automotive Group, which has 20 locations throughout the New York-New Jersey metro area. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he believes in the civic responsibility of business owners and currently serves on the board for the Greater New York Auto Dealers and is the president of the Team Suffolk Swim Club. He lives in Northport.
Mascolo is a dentist at Mascolo Dental, which has been providing dental care in the Long Island area for more than 30 years. Mascolo joined the family practice 10 years ago and is a member of several professional organizations. He also volunteers with charitable groups including The Leukemia Society of America, East Northport Rotary Club, and Knights of Columbus East Northport. He is a resident of Northport.
The SCSF supports a number of important programs with three overarching funding initiatives including:
- The Community Investment Fund – Provides funding for programs that are essential to stand between gang members and vulnerable school-aged children.
- The Community Service Fund – Provides funding for programs that supports children of incarcerated parents to offer opportunity in the hopes of breaking the cycle of incarceration.
- The Inside-Out Fund – Provides funding for training programs that help make officers more culturally aware of the communities they serve, allowing for better community relations and collaboration.
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Foundation’s mission is to support community-based programming to reduce incidents of crime and recidivism, improve outcomes for at-risk individuals, and build positive relationships with members of law enforcement.
